Una piccola comunità di viaggiatori, un cammino condiviso in cinque quadri o stazioni, un percorso simbolico dall’oscurità alla luce.

Il lutto della dea Demetra per la perdita della figlia diventa furia che rende sterile la terra. È la disperazione di una madre, la sua. La discesa negli Inferi di Kore, fanciulla ignara rapita da Ade che vuole farne la regina del suo regno oscuro, e il suo ritorno sulla terra innescano il ciclo di morte e di rinascita, la rivoluzione delle stagioni. A salutare la ricomparsa della vita e della luce, ecco l’apparizione di Aurora.

AURORA è un racconto poetico e immaginifico, sempre diverso: installazioni scenografiche, costumi, partiture coreografiche interagiscono con i luoghi pronti ad accogliere l’inaspettato. Ogni quadro è impregnato della ricerca iconografica e letteraria che restituisce i numerosi volti di Kore, la “ragazza indicibile”, come dice Giorgio Agamben, ovvero la forza vitale che non si lascia definire da alcuna età, identità sessuale o maschera sociale.

La fanciulla divina è la soglia che divide e unisce non soltanto i limiti tra la luce e il buio, tra la vita e la morte, ma anche i confini sfumati tra diverse figure mitologiche – Kore, Persefone, Ecate, Semele: «Così come confonde e indetermina la cesura fra la donna e la bambina, la vergine e la madre, così anche quella fra l’animale e l’umano e fra questo e il divino»*.

La performer in scena attraversa il mito, muta aspetto e carattere, si lascia pervadere dalle diverse qualità che la divina fanciulla assume via via. Ogni stazione diventa scenario di una sua “maschera”, di un suo aspetto simbolico e animico.

Il viaggio dalle tenebre al risorgere luminoso si consuma insieme al pubblico, spettatore attivo di un rituale collettivo, che ha il privilegio iniziatico di assistere a un mistero fondativo che si ripete nei millenni, sin dal tempo inafferrabile del mito.

DAWN as light, companion to the night

site-specific performance

A small community of travellers, a shared journey in five tableaux or stations, a symbolic path from darkness to light.

The mourning of the goddess Demeter for the loss of her daughter becomes fury that makes the earth barren. It is a mother’s despair. The descent into the underworld of Kore, an innocent maiden kidnapped by Hades who wants to make her queen of his dark kingdom, and her return to earth, trigger the cycle of death and rebirth, the revolution of the seasons. Greeting the reappearance of life and light is the appearance of Aurora.

DAWN is a poetic and imaginative tale, always different: scenic installations, costumes, choreographic scores interact with places ready to welcome the unexpected. Each tableaux is imbued with the iconographic and literary research that restores the many faces of Kore, the ‘unspeakable girl’, as the philosopher Giorgio Agamben puts it, or the life force that does not allow itself to be defined by any age, sexual identity or social mask.

The divine maiden is the threshold that both divides and joins not only the boundary between light and darkness, between life and death, but also the blurred boundaries between different mythological figures – Kore, Persephone, Hecate, Semele: ‘ Just as she blurs and undefines the caesura between woman and child, virgin and mother, so too the caesura between animal and human and between the latter and the divine ’*.

The performer on stage goes through the myth, changing her appearance and character, allowing herself to be pervaded by the different qualities that the divine maiden gradually takes on. Each station becomes the setting for one of her ‘masks’, one of her symbolic and animic aspects.

The journey from darkness to a luminous rising takes place together with the audience, active spectators of a collective ritual, who have the initiatory privilege of witnessing a founding mystery that has been repeated over the millennia, ever since the elusive time of myth.
